Drugs and alcohol policy

1. Purpose and Scope

Seascape Logistics (Pvt) Ltd is committed to protecting the health and safety of all employees, contractors, and subcontractors while carrying out their duties. To achieve this, individuals must remain free from the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The misuse of drugs or alcohol can:

  • • Endanger health and safety
  • • Lead to absenteeism, poor performance, or misconduct
  • • Damage the reputation of Seascape Logistics Group

This Policy applies to all employees, agency workers, contractors, and self-employed personnel engaged with the company.

2. Policy Statement

We expect all staff to carry out their duties safely and responsibly. You must not:

  • • Work under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • • Possess alcohol or illegal drugs on company premises
  • • Present yourself in a manner that suggests impairment due to alcohol or drugs

This applies equally to consumption before or outside of working hours if the effects remain during work.

3. Compliance

This Policy applies to:

  • • All employees (permanent, temporary, and fixed
  • • Contractors, consultants, and agency workers
  • • Any other individuals engaged in work on behalf of Seascape Logistics

4. Company Approach

  • • Screening: If there is reasonable suspicion of impairment, or if your role is safety-critical, you may be required to undergo drug or alcohol testing by an external provider. Refusal may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal.
  • • Searches: The company reserves the right to search premises, lockers, desks, and personal belongings where there are reasonable grounds to suspect possession of alcohol or illegal drugs. Employees may request a witness during searches.
  • • Confiscation: Any alcohol or drugs found in breach of this Policy may be retained or destroyed and may be used as evidence in disciplinary proceedings

5. Support for Staff

Seascape Logistics recognizes that drug or alcohol misuse may be linked to dependency or health issues. We encourage staff to seek help at the earliest opportunity.

  • • Employees who disclose a problem will be supported and referred to appropriate medical or professional services
  • • Where treatment is sought, disciplinary action may be suspended pending the outcome of recovery efforts.
  • • Colleagues who suspect a co-worker may have a problem should raise concerns confidentially with their manager.
  • • Prescribed medication should only be brought to work in quantities sufficient for personal use. Employees must be aware of potential side-effects that could impair performance or safety

6. Non-Compliance

Failure to comply with this Policy will be treated as a serious matter. Breaches may result in disciplinary action under the company’s Disciplinary Policy, up to and including dismissal.
